File transfer explained

Free online file transfer

Upload files once, create a secure temporary link, and let the recipient download them without installing a transfer client.

Upload files for free · Up to 20 GB · No account required.

The short answer

An online file transfer is a short-lived handoff: the sender uploads files, the service creates a private link, and the recipient downloads the files before the link expires.

  1. Add the files

Choose up to 100 files with a combined size of no more than 20 GB.

  2. Choose access settings

Set a one-day or seven-day expiry and add an optional password when the link needs another layer of protection.

  3. Deliver and expire

Share the URL, let the recipient download, and allow the transfer to expire automatically when its window ends.

Useful details

Know what happens before you upload.

File transfer versus email

Email is designed for messages and modest attachments. File-transfer links work better for large archives, design exports, videos, datasets, and batches of assets that exceed mailbox limits.

The conversation can stay in email or chat while the files use one dedicated download URL. This avoids requiring an FTP client or cloud-drive account.

When an online transfer is useful

Use a temporary transfer for client deliverables, project handoffs, event photos, creative exports, support logs, or any file set that needs to move without becoming a permanent shared folder.

Recipients can download individual files or the complete transfer. Senders who sign in can manage recent transfers, but an account is not required for a basic handoff.

A practical security checklist

Double-check the recipient channel before posting the link, set the shortest practical expiry, and add a password for sensitive material. Send the password separately when possible.

Do not upload malware, illegal material, spam, phishing content, or files you do not have the right to share. Use the abuse report page if a SendFile link appears harmful.
